Day 14: Choosing the Better Seat

Luke Chapter 14

Luke 14 is a powerful teaching on humility and the cost of discipleship. Jesus challenges social norms by urging His followers to take the lowest place at the table rather than seeking honor. True greatness in God’s kingdom is measured not by status but by a humble heart.

He then tells the parable of the great banquet, revealing God’s wide open invitation. The doors of His kingdom are not reserved for the wealthy or influential. Instead, the outcast, the overlooked and the humble are welcomed with joy. This reveals God’s desire for every person to share in His grace.

Jesus ends with a sobering call to count the cost of following Him. Discipleship is not casual. It requires devotion, intention and sacrifice. Luke 14 invites us to examine our priorities, open our lives to others and follow Jesus with wholehearted commitment.

Reflection Verse: For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. Luke 14:11

Prayer Prompt: Lord, cultivate humility within me. Help me welcome others with Your love and follow You with complete devotion.
