Day 5: A Call to Follow

Luke Chapter 5

In Luke chapter 5, we witness the moment Jesus begins calling His first disciples. Simon Peter, exhausted from a night of unsuccessful fishing, listens when Jesus tells him to let down his nets once more. The result is overwhelming. The catch is so large that the nets begin to break.

Peter’s response is humility. He feels unworthy, overwhelmed by the holiness of Jesus. Yet Jesus does not turn him away. Instead, He says, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will fish for people.” And Peter leaves everything behind to follow Him.

This chapter reminds us that Jesus meets us in our ordinary moments, even in our frustrations and failures. He steps into our boats, into our daily routines, and invites us into something greater. The miracle is not just in the fish. The miracle is in the calling. In the courage to say yes. In the willingness to follow even when we do not feel qualified.

Today, ask yourself where God may be calling you to cast your nets again. You may be closer to breakthrough than you think.

Reflection Verse:

“Do not be afraid. From now on you will fish for people.” Luke 5:10

Prayer Prompt:

Lord, help me hear Your calling and follow with faith. Give me courage to cast my nets again even when I feel weary. Amen.
