Devotional: The Power of Small Beginnings

Updated: Nov 12

Planting a seedling

Every big story starts with a small beginning. Sometimes it’s a whisper instead of a roar, a quiet nudge that leads you toward something you didn’t even know your heart was ready for.

When I started Happiest When I didn’t set out to build a brand. I set out to follow a feeling, a longing for purpose, for joy, and for a way to honor God through creativity. What began as a few simple designs and late-night ideas turned into something that felt much bigger than me. And that’s the beautiful thing about small beginnings: they don’t have to be perfect, they just have to start.

Scripture tells us in Zechariah 4:10, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”

That verse has always felt like a gentle reminder that God delights in our first steps, our messy drafts, and our tiny leaps of faith. He doesn’t need us to have the full picture, just the courage to say yes to what He places on our hearts.

Maybe you’re standing at your own beginning right now, a new chapter, a new dream, or a new season of life. Whatever it is, trust that your small start has a divine purpose. God’s plans don’t require grandeur; they require faith.

Happiest When was born from that belief. From one idea to the next, one prayer to another, it’s a brand built on faith, creativity, and the quiet confidence that God multiplies what we give Him, no matter how small.

So take the step, make the thing, say the prayer, plant the seed. The beginning may be small, but the blessing never is.
