Luke Chapter 9
Luke 9 begins with Jesus sending the twelve disciples to proclaim the kingdom and heal. He equips them with power and authority, reminding us that God still empowers ordinary believers to do extraordinary things.
Jesus feeds the five thousand, teaching us that what little we have becomes more than enough in His hands. When we offer Him what we have, He multiplies it in ways we could never imagine.
Then comes a defining moment, Peter declares that Jesus is the Messiah. From here, Jesus begins revealing what lies ahead: suffering, rejection, death and resurrection. He challenges His followers to take up their cross daily. Faith is not passive, it is a lifelong choice to follow Him even when it costs something.
On the mountaintop, the Transfiguration reveals Jesus in heavenly glory alongside Moses and Elijah. God declares, “This is my Son…listen to Him.” It is a moment that shows us Jesus is not just a teacher, He is the eternal Son of God.
Later, Jesus teaches humility, welcome, and surrender. In His kingdom, greatness is measured not by position, but by love.
Reflection Verse: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily.” Luke 9:23
Prayer Prompt: Jesus, give me courage to follow You even when it is difficult. Help me surrender daily and trust that every step leads closer to You. Amen.
