Day 11: Lord's Prayer

Luke Chapter 11

Luke 11 invites us into the very heart of Jesus’ teaching on prayer. When the disciples ask Him to teach them how to pray, He responds with what we now call the Lord’s Prayer, a simple yet profound model that draws us into intimacy with God. Jesus shows us that prayer is not a ritual or performance. It is a relationship built on trust, humility and dependence. He encourages us to come before the Father with the confidence of beloved children.

Jesus continues by teaching the importance of persistence. He describes a man knocking at his friend’s door at midnight until his request is answered. Jesus uses this example to show that God is not reluctant or bothered by our prayers. He welcomes them. Persistence in prayer is not about wearing God down, but about shaping our hearts to depend on Him more deeply.

Later in the chapter, Jesus warns against allowing spiritual blindness to take root. He reminds the crowd that light has already come into the world and that the condition of our hearts determines whether we truly see it. This chapter calls us to bold prayer, honest self-reflection and unwavering trust in God’s goodness.
